But if you are looking for the best beaches in France to chill out on during summer 2023, then there is only one place you need to head for and that is the Cote d'Azur and the Languedoc.

With its four beaches, Collioure in South France, has to be up the top of the list as the best Languedoc coastal town to visit in 2024. Although the beaches are small and often busy, the views of the tranquil sea and Pyrenees are spectacular. You also have the wonderful town of Collioure on-hand with its restaurants, boutiques and artist trails to keep you amused.

If you are looking for one of the best beaches to visit in 2024, close to the city of Montpellier in Southern France, then you could probably do no better than Point Zero plage in La Grande Motte. Sheltered waters safe for small children, long stretches of golden sand and plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, what more could you ask for?

Rochelongue Plage is in my opinion the best of the beaches in Cap d'Agde. Cap d'Agde is the largest beach resort in France and is located on the Mediterranean coast in the South of France, in between Cote d'Azur and the Spanish border. The nearby cities of Montpellier and Beziers both provide both local airports and TGV train stations for accessing Cap d'Agde. Rochelongue Plage is a wide, long expanse of golden sand with lovely views down to the Pyrenees and Spain in the distance.

A lot of the beaches near Montpellier can be accessed simply by taking a tram from Montpellier city centre (Line 3 to Perols Etang de l'Or). Vias Plage in located on the Mediterranean coast in South France. It is a quiet beach, with shallow, warm waters and golden sand - ideal for children and adults alike. Vias Plage is certainly one of the best Languedoc beaches to visit whilst you are in South France on holiday. This popular beach is sheltered and easily accessible even in the height of summer. 

Argeles sur Mer beach, South of France, is situated in a long sweeping bay that looks out onto the Pyrenees and the warm Mediterranean sea. Argeles Plage beach is certainly one of the best beaches in South of France and has the European blue flag award in recognition of  the quality of the water and cleanliness of the beach. Argeles-sur-Mer also boasts an interesting history and has some excellent restaurants and decent shops.
