Domaine De La Verriere is a fabulous large Chateau to rent on the edge of the Cevennes National Park, close to Anduze, Uzes & Quissac. It sleeps 28 guests in its 12 bedrooms so is perfect for large groups, weddings or celebrations.
The location is divine, with fabulous views in every direction, the area is perfect for Cycling, Hiking, Running and Walking holidays, or if exercise isn´t your thing it works perfectly also for a relaxing holiday enjoying the regions finest wines.
The origins of the Chateau date back to the 15th century with further additions made in the early 19th Century. Originally the Chateau was a goat farm and vineyard. The stables and wine stores can still be seen. There is also the original oven used for glass blowing the wine bottles and kitchenware.

Set amongst its own parkland and coming with 2 swimming pools, 12 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and its own aqueduct providing a natural water supply; Chateau de la Verrerie is in effect a private hamlet with complete peace and tranquility.
This really is the perfect place for friends to gather and enjoy each others company and for children to explore the woodland.
The Chateau is also an excellent venue for a Wedding in South France.
With easy drives to the local airports at Nimes and Montpellier and good road connections to the main motorways in Southern France, this French Chateau for rent is also very accessible.

This French Chateau for rent in Southern France is located in the Gard department, close to the medieval village of Durfort-et-Saint-Martin-de-Sossenac. This area has been inhabited since pre-historic times, with artefacts found from 40,000 years ago. Further archeological studies have found remains of a Roman fort, Celtic tools from the Bronze age, the foundations of a Gallic village and Greek coins from the Phocaean times. A complete skeleton of a Mammouth was discovered close to the village in 1869 and is now exhibited at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. Today Durfort is a pleasant village to wander around and there is an excellent restaurant just on the edge of the village.
The Cevennes region, which is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists in France, is also a gastronomic centre and close to this Chateau you will find many local producers of goats cheese, honey, olive oil and excellent wines.
The town of Anduze is always a pleasure to walk around with its boutique shops and excellent market. Anduze is also home to the famous Bambouserie - the bamboo gardens. Also close at hand you will be able to explore the Roman city of Nimes, the Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct, the beautiful town of Uzes and many more lovely local villages (Sauve, Quissac and St-Hippolyte-du-Fort).
Less than 1 hour away from the Chateau you can reach: Mount Lozére (1700m) in the north, the Mediterranean beaches to the south, the city of Avignon with the famous Palais des Papes and summer arts festival, the cosmopolitan city of Montpellier and the Camargue natural park.

This French Chateau is a great venue for a small wedding, family reunion or a weekend get-together with friends. The Chateau can sleep up to 28 people in 12 bedrooms. It is set within 132 hectares of private estate and comes with 2 private pools, 2 kitchens, 4 lounges and a large terrace. The Chateau even has its own fresh water supply delivered by an ancient aqueduct. The Chateaus comes with an on-site, who will ensure that everything runs smoothly for your stay.
