My husband and I and another couple stayed in the Chardonnay apartment for a week. The apartment was charming and clean with simple furnishings but all the modern conveniences such as microwave, dishwasher, clothes washer, and two full baths. The covered patio area was lovely for evening cocktails while watching the sun set or morning coffee. The mas has been beautifully restored with lovely stonework, functioning shutters on the windows, and lovely plantings within the courtyard and surrounding the outside walls. We enjoyed watching the harvesting of grapes on the vineyard and enjoyed taking walks throughout the acreage of grapevines. The area is lovely and quiet with close proximity to local towns for sightseeing. We drove to the Mediterranean coast one day for lunch, visitied Arles to experience Van Gogh's inspirations and see the Roman ruins, rode the steam railway from Anduze, and visited the medeival town of Sommieres, all within a 45 minute drive from the apartment. My husband and I took long walks each day into the town of Saint Jean de Serres and enjoyed looking at the homes and the vast landscape of the vineyards. Our GPS helped us a great deal while driving. I would not have wanted to be without one. Most shops and restaurants close after 1PM for a mid-day break, and reopen around 3PM, so once we got on this local schedule, we were fine. The restaurants seemed to close during the week on a whim since Sept. is their shoulder season, so you have to double check to make sure they are open for business. One aspect to consider when staying at Mas de Puech would be the stairs leading to most of the apartments from the main courtyard. To get to Chardonnay and Syrah you had to climb a full flight. Vacationing at Mas de Puech can be as laid back and relaxing as you want it to be or as busy as you want, sightseeing each day and then returning to the quiet of the mas. It would be a wonderful place to vacation with family members as each group could have their own apartment. There are 7 apartments is all. Great for a destination wedding! We had a wonderful time and would recommend it for anyone wanting to feel the true ambiance of southern France. The pool area was lovely, a nice place to read and listen to lapping water. The weather was fabulous, sunny every day, low humidity, and in the 70's F.

The pool was a bit cold for swimming, but it was April.
