Last visited October 2016. We had the benefit of visiting this Conas holiday cottage near Pezenas, South France, prior to the renovation work taking place. The transformation has been quite incredible. What the owner has done very successfully, is to preserve the best original features of the house and to add modern fittings and equipment to create an extremely comfortable living space. This holiday cottage is very close to some of the best beaches in South France and with Pezenas just down the road, you are sure to enjoy your stay here. Conas is a very small village. Many of the local residents are still actively involved in wine making and tending to the vines. It is a lovely calm and quiet village surrounded by vineyards. The Chateau in the centre of Conas, dates back to the 17th Century. Excavations have revealed that it is located on the site of an earlier Chateau, which has origins in the 12th Century.
The nearest shops and facilities are located either in Pezenas or the neighbouring village of Nezignan l'Eveque. Like Conas, Nezignan is a 12th Century village and it is a nice place to cycle to during the evening and enjoy a glass of wine at the bar or a pizza at the local restaurant.
The town of Pezenas is an amazing place to visit. The old historical centre of Pezenas has over 90 listed hstroical buildings and it is a joy to walk around the narrow winding streets. The best times to visit Pezenas are either on a Friday evening during the summer when a large wine festival (L'Estivale) takes place, or on a Saturday morning when the famous Pezenas market takes over the whole town. Pezenas provides plenty of options for restaurants, supermarkets and shops.
The nearest beach is located at Vias Plage (19kms). Other good local beaches include Marseillan Plage, Rochelongue Plage in Cap d' Agde and Valras Plage.
The owner is quite flexible and will try and accommodate your travel dates/arrival dates. Nominally, the changeover day is Saturday during high season, but other days will be considered to coincide with your flights.
Conas is located just next to the A75 autoroute. This enables you to reach all the sites of Languedoc very easily.
