We stayed here for 3 weeks last summer with our 2 daughters and a couple of friends stopped by for a week each over the period. The Cottage is located in a quiet location just off the road about a mile from Montagnac village. We visited Meze and ate on the harbour side a couple of times and loved watching the boat jousting which was entertaining and a unique sport in this area. We enjoyed early morning bike rides and a down stream canoe trip at a location about 20 miles away from the info we found in the Cottage, the children really enjoyed this and are still talking about this 6 months later. Great location, great host, great holiday. Review by John G. 2 July 2015
The location is amazing on the top of this hill so you get great views of the church spire illuminated at night and cooling breezes. The cottage is surrounded by vineyards and the whole location made for a very relaxing holiday. The cottage is clean with a well equipped kitchen and bright and modern bathrooms. We loved the pool which is well secluded and enjoys the sun all of the day, the pizza over is a fun addition and the children had nearly mastered pizza making by the end of our visit, this made a nice change from a barbecue. The outside dining area is very cool and peaceful to dine in or just to sit in and read through the day. The WiFi is good and I manged to keep connected to work in the UK.
My husband and I along with 18 month old daughter had a really lovely week at the Gite, which is in pretty vineyard. It is very tastefully furnished with nice furniture, comfy beds and a modern kitchen. It was all on one level, the pool was fenced with an alarm and there was even a mini play park so we felt it was perfect for a family especially with young children. We would definitely go again, highly recommended. Review by Julie R. 6 Jun 2016
The pool was very clean with a lovely private decked area and good sun loungers. The owner, Richard, was very kind and helpful although we didn't need much as everything had already been thoughtfully provided. There was even two bottles of complimentary wine for us made from the vineyard's grapes.
The pool was quite chilly in May but I expect it warms up when the weather gets hotter.
Our three daugthers aged 11, 9 and 5 and we spent two splendid weeks at the "Gite" (i.e. cottage) at Maz de Basin just outside the charming village of Montagnac. It was a memorable time in a charming location made special by its gracious host Richard Cliff (and his entertaining duo of pets Dougal, the dog, and Vaska, the cat!). The cottage is adjacent to the large farmhouse amidst three hectares of enchanting vineyards. It is very spacious with three airy bedrooms and two tastefully architected bathrooms, of which one is an en-suite bathroom. It can comfortably house six individuals and is absolutely ideal for families with up to four children. There is a washing machine in the larger of the two bathrooms and laundry dries within minutes outside. Outside, there is a shaded and airy dining area under a leafy tree which can seat up to eight. Right in the proximity are a real(!) wood-burning pizza oven and an outdoor barbeque fireplace. We had our fill of faux filet and real albeit charred pizza (it is an art and Richard "cheats" by pre-baking the base in an oven, which is probably the smartest thing to do to avoid the frustrations of charred toppings and soggy dough). Beaches (we would recommend Meze, Portirangnes and Serignan) are each about 30 minutes away by car and very easily accessible. And there are a number of wonderful vineyards in the vicinity, of which we would recommend Cote Mas for a Sunday brunch (it's EUR40 per head -- and that's what they charge for children as well), which is quite spectacular. We followed Richard's recommendations and ate at BK in Montagnac, which is delicious. The restaurant in turn recommended Chez Hansi in Pezenas, which was unspectacular but absolutely delicious. We look forward to revisiting this wonderful place, which we highly recommend. Review by Dhananjay M, 28 Aug 2016
The living and dining area are spacious and exceptionally well equipped (TV, a Wii, etc. which we hardly used), as is the large kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances including a dishwasher. The pool is modern, sparkling and surrounded by a spanking-new wooden perimeter for sunbathing under a magically blew sky. It was large enough for three to four people and exceptionally well-maintained. Our girls spent most of the beautifully warm and dry days in the pool, competing for the award for the most wrinkly fingers and toes!
Montagnac is effectively a large thoroughfare en route to the picturesque town of Pezenas, about 15 minutes away from car.
