This charming French property to rent long term, is close to the beautiful Cevennes region of Southern France, which is a popular region for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. The Cevennes remains largely the same as it did when Robert Louis Stevenson wrote his celebrated book about the region in 1879 (´Tavels with a Donkey in the Cevennes´). This property is a 2 bedroom apartment with a large private terrace, a light and airy lounge and incredible rural views. Available to rent from December 2019 to 29 February 2020 from €650 per month.

The apartment is located in a quiet hamlet called St Sebastien d´Aigrefeuille, which is 10kms from the larger towns of Anduze and Ales. Anduze is an extremely pretty town and it is home to the world renowned Bambouseraie gardens. This French property to rent is well-equipped for the winter months. The apartment is extremely well insulated and the monthly price includes the supply of firewood for the wood burner. This is the perfect property to rent for a couple or a small family looking to escape the stresses of modern life and to completely chill-out in the natural surroundings.

This lovely apartment is ideal for a couple or a small family. The apartment is located in the middle of 3 other apartments, all with calm and quiet occupants. It has two cosy bedrooms with double beds and a bathroom with shower, a bath tub, wash basin and toilet. The fully equipped kitchen comes with a Fridge, Freezer, Oven, Grill, extractor hob and plenty of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. There is also washing machine and an iron and ironing board

The spacious lounge has two mezzanines on each side, one of which is fitted with a king size bed; the other with a desk and study area. Large glass doors lead from the lounge onto the covered terrace for dining, relaxing and enjoying the winter sun. The lounge comes with a large corner sofa, a large wood burning stove and is decorated with simple white walls with wooden finishings.

The apartment is fully insulated and has full double glazing and enjoys south/west facing position. It is economically heated with only a wood burning stove.

Area activities

South France is known for its hiking and walking and this particular region is famous for the large number of paths and unspoiled beauty. With the Cevenes mountains on your doorstep there are some wonderful cycling routes and mountain biking trails in the area. Most years the Tour de France goes near the house. The Cevennes is also a popular area for fishing, with numerous local rivers, such as the Gardon, providing great waters for Trout fishing. There is great canoeing and rafting facilities in the area, with the village of Florac having world famous white water rafting rapids with many companies that you can rent a raft from. Also nearby, you can experience:

Pont-du-Gard (40 minutes), an amazing ancient Roman aqueduct.

The Camargue Beaches (70 minutes), some of the most unspoiled beaches on the Mediterranean.A great place for horse back riding.

Pont des Abarines - a Bridge built by Gustave Eiffel (the same person who designed the Eiffel tower) over the river Gardon.

St. Jean du Gard - an unspoilt small town famous for its associations with Robert Louis Stevenson book and for its weekly market on Tuesdays.

The Gorges du Tarn - a very beautiful gorge with a river in the middle.

Driving directions

The booking policies for this French property to rent long term, are as follows:

The rental period is from 1 December 2019 to 29 February 2020. 1 month security deposit required. Rent to be paid one month in advance. A discount of 50 euros per month is applied if the full 3 months rent is paid in advance. References required. The rental price includes electricity, water, internet and 6 cubic metres of wood. We would prefer a quiet couple, as there are apartments above and below with tenants who enjoy the tranquility of the area.
