We really enjoyed our stay at Rouvenac ; we’ll long treasure memories of our time there and would love to pay a return visit one day. It’s a lovely place at the edge of a typical French village. The House is very comfortable and tastefully decorated (with some of Donna’s beautiful paintings!); and we had everything we needed. The kids also had a great time with the games room. Importantly, Donna was happy to answer and help with any queries/problems. Nick K. Worcestershire, UK. Review Submitted: Oct 25, 2014
There is so much to do and see in the area and this Holiday house is well located! We enjoyed cycling, white water rafting on the Aude and swimming in the Lake at Puivert. We loved exploring the Cathar Castles with incredible views and villages such as Rennes le Chateau and Fanjeaux. We also took a boat trip on the Canal du Midi. There are Markets and festivals and happenings all over the region; we even managed to see a cycle race at Quillan.
Nothing! A Great Holiday!
We were two families with 4 children (aged 5, 4, 3 and 2) and a baby. We spent 5 days in the house and visited a couple of castles in the Cathars area (Puivert and Arches). The museum of dinosaurs in Esperaza is really impressive, and Carcassone is beautiful. The house is big and the rooms are comfortable. The kitchen is very spacious and we had all our meals in it as it has a big table. Very handy altogether. The living room is cozy and the playroom in the basement is fully equipped (darts, pool table, table tennis, table football and hi-fi system).... it was a pity there were no heaters in the playroom and it was too cold to enjoy it during the days of our stay at the end of December. We really had a nice time and we're very happy of our stay. We would definitely recommend it. Andreu N; Jan 2016.
The large house easily and comfortably accommodated our adult family of 5. We loved the sunny terrace at the front of the house where we barbecued, ate and played games into the evening, drinking the local Blanquette de Limoux. The games room and laundry on the ground floor were well equipped. The pool table and table tennis table provided much entertainment and not a little competition. This level provided a cool contrast to the sunny terrace just outside. The living area on the first floor was beautifully organised. The kitchen - dining area provided a main living space. The kitchen was well equipped with two sunny Juliet balconies overlooking the terrace onto the front of the house. We ate mostly indoors at the table which sits in front of one balcony; the red squirrel which lives opposite provided daily entertainment over breakfast as he ran along the wire into the trees and back again. The other balcony has comfortable chairs overlooking the front of the house. We loved using the mountain bikes to explore the local area using the good paths that start very near to the house. The owner, Donna, met us when we arrived. She took the time to show us around the house suggesting local attractions and also gave advice about the beaches on the east coast. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to others wanting to explore this beautiful part of France. As to what to visit... Esperaza market is on Sunday, so that is useful on your first day when most supermarkets (except the one in Esperaza) are shut. It is worth the drive to the coast to see Colliure and Banyuls sur Mer. Recommend rafting and exploring all the nearby Gorges. A lovely house from which to explore this wonderful region.
