These Languedoc apartments for rent with pools are situated in the village of Poilhes, which is located between Beziers and Capestang. Poilhes is a quiet village but has a shop which sells a good variety of produce. The village is also visited weekly by the fish, meat and pizza vans Poilhes has two restaurants which enjoy a good local reputation, plus the newly opened Vin Auberge which is open almost all day everyday selling a fantastic range of local wines as well as a varied menu.
Capestang is the nearest large village and is only 5 minutes drive away. Here there is a large supermarket, petrol station and a good variety of shops and restaurants. The Canal du Midi meanders through the centre of Poilhes and is ideal for a walk or cycle ride along the shady towpath; or hire a boat or take one of the many excursions on offer from Capestang. If you are feeling energetic, there is a free municipal tennis court a few minutes walk away from the house.

We stayed at this apartment, in the quaint village of Poilhes, directly on the canal du midi, for 7 nights during the summer. The pictures really don't do it justice. The property has been converted (from a mill I think ..?) to a very high standard with high end fixtures and fittings. It was more than well equipped and we enjoyed many nights cooking in the kitchen and eating in the outside space with it's stunning views over the Black Mountains. Having eaten at restaurants prior to our stay here it really was a home from home experience. There are also two lovely restaurants in the village if you want to eat out. Beverley, the owner provided us with an extensive list of places to visit during our stay, some of which we did seek out and were not disappointed. The property was very clean, the queen size bed in the main bedroom was huge and very comfortable. The outdoor pool for our sole use was an added bonus. It was cold however this was refreshing and a welcome respite (despite the involuntary shrieks as you first hit the water) from the midday heat . The pool has the sun from around 11am until 3pm but the outside space on the first floor, equipped with a lovely big table, chairs and a further two lounging chairs had then sun well into the evening. I cannot speak highly enough of this apartment and its facilities and we would happily return. Our 10 year old daughter also loved the experience.

We spent 11 nights here in August (2 adults, 2 children) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is full of character but with all of the mod-cons you could ask for. We found it to be spotlessly clean and appreciated the information on the region provided by the owners. The pool is not heated but that was no problem in the heat of summer. Views are nice from the front (over the Canal) but we particularly liked the large terrace at the back which was a suntrap with distant views to the mountains. All in all, highly recommended and a very good base for travel across the region.
