This beautifully restored town house is situated in the heart of the town of Carjac, which is ideally set on the banks of the River Lot. The Lot department in South-West France, is located next to Dordogne. It is a beautiful region, famous for its limestone plateaus ( known as "causses"), river valleys and stunning medieval villages. The house is located just a few minutes walk to the center of the town. Cajarc has a population of just over 1,000 people, but despite its small size, it has several restaurants, cafes, bakeries, butchers, and a general store. There´s an outdoor market twice weekly with fresh produce and regional products. Cajarc also hosts a couple of popular festivals throughout the year.
During its history, the house was once a clog shop (saboterie) and more recently, a pottery studio. The house has been refurbished and divided into two properties. There is a private entrance at street level, which takes you up onto the first floor where the accommodation is located. You enter into the large open plan living room, with exposed beams, original stone work, solid wood floor and white washed walls. This features a beautiful kitchen, dining area and a cozy lounge.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge-freezer, oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. In the centre of the kitchen there is a large island, which is perfect for preparing food. Next to the kitchen, there is a large dining table which can seat 6-8 people. In the lounge there is a comfortable leather sofa, coffee table, flat screen TV (with satellite channels) and a wood burning stove, set in the original hearth of the house. An alcove with exposed stone work, provides the perfect place for displaying books and DVDs.
The living room is very light and airy and also comes with a wall-mounted electric radiator and WiFi internet.
A set of steps leads up to the second floor where you will find the double bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is very spacious and features sloping ceilings and exposed beams. The bedroom contains a Queen size bed, bed side cabinets, a church pew-style seat and a set of antique chest of drawers and matching wardrobe.
The bathroom is located up a couple of steps from the bedroom and comes with a cute corner seat, hand dryer, free-standing sink, toilet and a modern walk in shower.
The long term rental prices for this house in the Lot department of France, include all utilities (electric, water and internet). Towels and sheets are also provided. Firewood must be provided by the tenant (although the Owners can arrange the delivery. Minimum stay is 2 months. Prices are based on a 12 month rental period.

Cajarc is located in the Lot valley, which is located east of Dordogne and 1 hour 45 mins north of Toulouse. The town is located on the eastern edge of the Parc Naturel Régional des Causses du Quercy.
Cajarc was once the home of Georges Pompidou, a former President of France who had the landmark, Pompidou Centre in Paris, named in his honour. His former house in the town is now an arts centre (Maison des Arts Georges and Claude Pompidou). The town developed rapidly in the Middle Ages due to its location on a river trade route. The area around the port (where this house is located) was the commercial hub of the town, with many warehouses and artisan workshops. Higher up in the town, the Merchants built many impressive Mansion houses. International trade also brought the Saffron spice to the area from Greece. Saffron Crocuses are still grown in the area and harvested during October and November.
