This house in Aix-en-Provence is approached along a private road, on a densely wooded hillside. The house provides over 150m2 (1600 sq feet) of living space. The house is well insulated with double glazing and there are shutters to help keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
The ground floor of the house contains a large entrance hall, kitchen and open plan living room. The kitchen comes equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher and plenty of cooking utensils. Next to the kitchen there is a a larder with a lot of storage space. There is a separate laundry room and washroom with toilet and basin.
The L-shaped open plan living area incorporates the dining area, lounge and study. The living room is furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture and there are two sets of patio doors that lead out onto the terrace.
The bedrooms are located on the first floor. The Master bedroom comes with a King size double bed (160cm), air conditioning and an en-suite shower room (with wash basin and toilet). Bedroom 2 also features a King size double bed (160cm). Bedroom 3 is a twin bedroom. Both these bedrooms share a family bathroom (with bath, overhead shower and wash basin) and an additional air conditioning unit. The bedrooms come with high quality bedding (200 thread count linens, bedspreads for the summer months and duvets for the winter).
Outside: there is a very pleasant outdoor seating area on the terrace in front of the house with a large table and chairs, parasol and deckchairs. A further terrace is situated at the side of the house near the kitchen with a small table that seats 2. A set of steps take you down from the terrace into the mature garden, filled with Mediterranean plants and trees. There are views down the valley towards La Chaine de L´Etoile mountain range. There is an outside washing line and plenty of space for children to play. A small shed in the corner of the garden is useful for storing bicycles and sports equipment. Gated parking is available just below the property on a separate terrace, the house is reached by a set of 7 steps.

Aix en Provence is is a vibrant town famous for its many fountains, the daily market and a wealth of museums, restaurants and shops. In the heart of Aix, you will find the Cours Mirabeau, a wide tree-lined avenue where you can people watch over a coffee or a glass of wine. The Cours Mirabeau comes alive on a summer´s night. It´s a great place to stroll after dinner, enjoy an ice-cream, watch the street entertainers or visit the artisan market.
There are many things to do and see locally:
Sainte Victoire is our local mountain and was regularly painted by Cezanne. There are lots of walks and trails and some great spots for a picnic.
Marseille is the nearest large city and is a 30 minute drive, or a short journey by train. Visit the newly renovated port area and the fabulous new museums and galleries. Or take a boat out to the Calanques - a beautiful stretch of coastline with turquoise water
Cassis a pretty fishing village with a small pebbly beach is a 40 minute drive. Here you will find a fabulous Michelin star restaurant. There are walking trails from Cassis across the Calanques which offer stunning scenery and access to smaller beaches.
The Roman town of Arles in the Camargue region, is only a 75 minute drive from Aix. Here you can visit the Roman arena and theatre plus an amazing museum. Arles, was also the location where Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin painted many of their famous paintings.
If you love hunting for antiques, the weekly Sunday market in Isle sur la Sorgue is great fun. The town also houses some big old warehouses where larger pieces of furniture and ´objets d´art´ can be found.
The city of Avignon is just 40 mins away. Avignon was once the home of the Pope and you can visit the fabulous Palais des Papes and also sample the wines from the nearby Chateauneuf des Papes vineyards.
The Gorges du Verdon and the Cote d´Azur are also within easy reach for day trips.
There are several golf courses in the local area - Pont Royal, Chateau L´Arc and Provence Country Club
