Maison D´Ecole was originally part of the local school and later a library and meeting room for the small village of Les Brousses. The village is located down a winding lane in the heart of a Chestnut forest. The surrounding countryside features Mountains and streams and is the perfect place to completely unwind and enjoy the nature & wildlife for a perfect holiday in the South of France. The large town of Alès is 15 km away, the historic towns of Anduze and Uzès are 30 km away and Nimes and Avignon are both 50 mins drive away. There is a TGV train station in both Nimes and Avignon, as well as local airports with low cost flights to the UK.
This 3 bedroom holiday home in the heart of the Cevennes has a spacious interior and comes with a nice sunny terrace with views over the surrounding hills. The house is managed by a local holiday centre located at an old Monastery 1 km away. Guests at this holiday property have full use of the leisure facilities at the Monastery, including the large heated swimming pool, first class restaurant and over 60 hectares of garden, forest and trails.

There is a generous paved terrace in front of the house, with a further seating area/sunbathing area which is laid with gravel. There is a driveway up to the house with a parking area.
The prices quoted include the linen, towels and end of stay cleaning. Pets are permitted to stay at a nightly charge of €4. Guests have full use of the swimming pool and leisure facilities at the nearby Monastery There is also an optional half-board supplement of €169 per person (€113 for children) which covers 5 evening meals and 7 breakfasts at the restaurant in the Monastery. The home provide comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people and has the benefit of a heated pool which can be used at a nearby former Monastery. The local village is small and remote, but nearby you can explore over 6 villages which feature in the official list of the ´Most beautiful villages in France´. You are also just a short drive from the historic towns of Uzès and Anduze. Nearby you will find a canoeing centre, an extensive tree-climbing park and plenty of mountain bike paths, walking trails and cycling routes. If you love being in the great outdoors and want to feel the sun on your back as take in the panoramic views, then there is no better place in France than the Cevennes.

This area of France is collectively known as The Cevennes and it is classified as a French National Park. The surrounding area is largely unspoiled and provides breathtaking scenery.
The region first came to international prominence through the work of the Scottish writer, Robert Louis Stephenson. In 1879 he published his book "Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes", in which he describes his journey through the region and his many stays at the local monasteries.
The nearby Monastery dates back over 900 years and the last monks left in 1789 when the Monastery was dissolved during the French Revolution. The Monastery contained a bakery, brewery, library, auditorium and chapel. Today it has been renovated and turned into a holiday centre, featuring painting holidays, cookery classes and singing courses. It has also been used as a location for weddings.
The local villages of Molieres-sur-Ceze has a population of around 1,500 people and is surrounded by dense forest and was a former mining village. Today the village is a popular place for holidaymakers looking to explore the local countryside on bike or on foot. The local area has some of the best cycling routes and hiling trails in France.
Popular local activities include canoeing in the local river (River Cèze) and an extensive tree-climbing centre which takes you through the canopy of the local forest. This is located just 500m from the house.
The nearest large town is Alès which is just a short drive away. Alès was historically a mining town, as well as an important centre for silk weaving. The town became an important refuge for French Protestants (Huguenots) during the 16th Century. The town contains a lot of shops, larger supermarkets, restaurants, banks, DIY stores and services for the region.
Nearby, you have some of the prettiest towns and villages in France. Uzès and Anduze are both 25 minutes away and nearby you will find the beautiful villages of Barjac, Lussan and La Rouque-sur-Cèze.
