Le Prieuré is a beautiful holiday home with superb panoramic views over the Cevennes hills. The Cevennes region of Southern France is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of France. This cheap holiday home in South France sleeps up to 3 people and is located up a quiet lane close to the village of Molières-sur-Cèze.
The home is built in the grounds of a former 12th Century Benedictine Monastery, that has been converted into a small holiday centre with heated swimming pool and on-site restaurant. The large town of Alès is 18 km away, the historic town of Uzès is 30 km and Nimes and Avignon are both 50 mins drive away. There is a TGV train station in both Nimes and Avignon, as well as local airports with low cost flights to the UK.
Every medieval Monastery had a Priory. The Priory was separate from the main monastery and was built for the Prior. The role of the Prior was to provide religious guidance and management of the local Abbotts of several monasteries. The Prior travelled around and had his own home in every monastery. Not surprisingly he got the most beautiful house!!
This modern day Priory fulfils the same role. The house is separate from the main Monastery building and provides a space for quiet reflection and privacy. It is certainly the most beautiful holiday home to rent at this holiday centre in the Cevennes, France. The holiday home is located high above the monastery and enjoys breath-taking views over the oak-covered hills of the Cévennes.
Bedroom & Bathroom
Nearly every guest at the Priory experiences the same emotion as they walk through the patio doors and onto the private terrace. Immediately they are silenced by the view. From the terrace you look out from north-east to south over the trees, hills and the distant mountains. The view is constantly changing with the light and it is something that you will never forget. The large terrace is 18m2 and comes equipped with two comfortable loungers. The terrace has a low retaining wall (to make the most of the views) so you do need to be careful with young children.
The Monastery sits in 60 hectares of grounds, mainly taken up with Oak and Chestnut forest. There is an art trail through the forest, as well as many walking routes. There is a large heated swimming pool with a large sun terrace. There are plenty of places to enjoy a family picnic or to choose a quiet spot under a tree to read a good book. On-site there is an excellent restaurant
The prices quoted include the linen, towels, end of stay cleaning and tourist tax. Prices do not include the half-board supplement of 5 evening meals and 7 breakfasts (€169 per person / €113 per children). The restaurant is closed on Tuesday and Friday evenings. The restaurant has one of the finest reputations in the area and the food is excellent. The half-board supplement enables the Owner to employ a full time chef and to keep the meal costs to a very reasonable level.
