Surrounding the village there is stunning countryside with mountain trails, walks among the vineyards and beautiful views. Cessenon is a very well-equipped village, with a supermarket, restaurants, shops and medical services. The house is pet-friendly and well set-up for a long stay.
This 17th Century house is located 150m from the river in a narrow street just below the centre of the village. medieval quarters. The hosue comes with 2 double bedrooms, an additional sleeping area and a garage for a small car, motorbikes or bicycles.
Inside, the house is an eclectic mix of furniture from Ireland, Switzerland to South Africa, India and Japan. There isn´t a straight wall in the house but each room has a character of its own. The floors are laid with the original quarry tiles.
You enter the house through the large garage doors on the ground floor and you step into the summer room with its cobble-stone floor, comfy club armchairs and exposed stone walls. During the heat of the summer months, this room remains lovely and cool and it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine and cook up a meal on the gas barbecue outside on the alleyway.
The stairs lead up to the first floor where a set of glass sliding doors take you into the kitchen and dining area. The well-equipped kitchen comes with an electric fan oven, gas burner hob, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, fridge-freezer and plenty of utensils.The first floor also has a comfortable snug area furnished with old iron sofa beds. Further along the corridor you´ll find the bathroom, then you´ll discover the African bedroom, which comes with a double bed, chest of drawers, hanging space and an armchair. This floor has reversible air conditioning and double glazing. There is WiFi and a TV.
The next flight of stairs leads to the second floor where you will find the Japanese bedroom. This bedroom has a Juliette balcony which overlooks the old judicial courtyard, which was formerly the site of an old guillotine.
The washing machine is located in the bathroom.

Cessenon is a friendly village and there is always something going on all year around. The local countryside is very picturesque, with many nice walks and excellent cycling trails. The village boasts 2 restaurants, a café-bar, a small supermarket, a summer outdoor restaurant, pharmacy, 3 bakeries, a garage and a doctor’s surgery. There is a local market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a large open-air Sunday market in the nearby town of Saint Chinian.
