kids6The South of France is generally regarded to have some of the best waterparks in Europe. You have a choice of 4 different water parks to choose from in Provence and the Cote d'Azur. Two of the waterparks are run by Aqualand (which seems to specialise in teenagers) and there are two good alternatives for smaller children.

aquasplashAquasplash is one of the newest water parks in France. It is located close to Nice on the Cote d'Azur coast. Aquasplash is part of a giant aquapark complex that also encompasses an Aquarium (Marineland), a children's theme park (Kids Island) and golf course. the park is well laid-out and seems to cater more for under 13 children. If you are looking for things to do in Nice, France, this summer, then Aquasplash can easily entertain your kids for the whole day.

park phoenix nice franceIf you are looking for things to do with the kids in Nice, France, then Park Phoenix, ecological park and zoo is a great choice. The zoo is situated in a large wood close to Nice airport on the outskirts of Nice. There is a giant lake with fountains and bidlife, as well as a giant greenhouse that accommodates the tropical plants. This zoo in Nice, France, is a great place to take the kids. You feel like you are in the middle of the countryside, even though you are still in the city borders.

kids5Aqualand has 2 water parks on the Cote d'Azur in South France. There is the Aqua Park Frejus and the Aqualand Sainte-Maxime. We have visited the Frejus aqualand water park and this seems to be the biggest of the two water parks, with more slides and it is situated in a bigger park. Aqualand is generally regarded as running the best water parks in South of France, although the new Aquasplash water park near Nice is also supposed to be quite good.

Meze dinosaur park

The Meze Dinosaur Museum is the largest museum in the South of France devoted entirely to dinosaurs. The park is well laid out and there is lots of information. It is a great way to spend a full day with the kids on those hot South of france summer days. This is routinely voted one of the best kids activities in France when we do a straw poll of our young visitors.

marineland1Marineland aquarium is located just on the outskirts of Antibes, in between Nice and Cannes. It is a fullblown water complex encompassing an outdoor aqaurium, water park, kids adventure park and a golf course. Marineland itself is a very impressive aquarium with sea lions, penguins, polar bears, sharks and turtles all laid out in an impressive park. It is billed as one of the top aquariums in France, if not the world.

aquariumAquarium, Le Grau-du-Roi - is one of the best aquariums in the Languedoc and the South of France. This small aquarium complete with Shark tunnel, seal and sea-lion observatory and beautiful varietes of jelly fish, focuses very much on educating children of all ages. If you want to entertain the kids on your holidays in France this summer and you want an alternative to the beach, then the aquarium at Le Grau du Roi is perfect.

velorailIf you are looking for something a bit different that can entertain all ages during your family holiday in South France, then the Velorail at Sainte-Baume in the heart of Provence, is just perfect. So how to describe it?? Well if you remember watching those old Laurel & Hardy films where they used to get stuck on a railway line on an old bogey cart, then that is sort of like Velorail.

kids1If you're looking to entertain your kids in the South of france this summer and you are looking for something with a bit of a difference, then the Ecopark Adventure park France could be for you. Set in dense forest in the hills above Toulon, Ecopark specialises in tree climbing adventures, encompassing abseiling, tree canopy walks and rope ladders. Whilst this may not be for those fearful of heights (like me!), this is great fun. It takes you back to being 10 years old again. Oh and the kids will enjoy it as well.

barben zooOne of the best zoos in the South of France is located in the heart of Provence, in between Salon de Provence and Aix-en-Provence. Barben zoo is laid out amongst beautiful Provence countryside and encompasses over 9kms of trails. This zoo includes a wide range of animals from the usual suspects (lions, giraffes, bears and elephants) to some unique animals such as Lynx cats, Fennec foxes, Tufted Capuchin and Alpacas.

Planetarium

If you are planning your French family holidays this summer and you are looking for places to go with the kids, then Planetarium Galilee - Montpellier's own superb planetarium is an excellent choice. aqualandAqualand in Cap dAgde is a good day out for all the kids in France. It is not cheap, but the rides are good and you can easily spend all day here. We have been to Aqualand Cap dAgde a number of times. If you are tired of the beach and your are search for some places to take the kids in South France, then Aqualand is a good choice (as long as you avoid the peak of season). Aqualand operate some of the best water parks in South of France

x Train JuaneTrain Juane is a yellow train that snakes its way up the Pyrenees from Villefranche-de-Conflet and climbs up to the highest train station in France at Bolquere. If you are planning your summer holidays in france with the kids and your are looking for some great days out, then taking the Train Juane should be near the top of your list. The views and scenery are magnificent and the kids will enjoy all the fresh air and sleep all the way home!

100kidsIf you are on your holidays in France with your children and you want an alternative to the beach (or an economical alternative to Aqualand), then La Grande Bleu swimming pool in La Grande Motte, Languedoc, is a good choice. La Grande Bleu is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool complex with 'flumes'(or 'toboggans' in French), up to 48m in length, 3-4 swimming pool areas, a toddler pool, sun terrace, solarium, steam room and sauna, jaccuzis, water jets, wave machine, etc.

The zoo offers a surprisingly wide choice of animals to see in nice big enclosures. So if you are looking for places for the kids in France this summer, then Montpellier is well worth the drive.
