Last visited September 2019. This French villa with pool is ideal for a family as it is close to the beaches and port. Montpellier is 15 mins away and the property is handy for several airports.
Aigues-Mortes is a striking, walled medieval town sitting on the flat marshes of the Petite Camargue, and is considered the purest example of 13th-century military architecture. It looks today pretty much like it did in the Middle Ages. The town of neatly rectilinear streets is surrounded by fortified ramparts. It contains many shops and cafes and restaurants catering for all tastes. Spend time strolling or just sitting whiling the time away.
A 20 minute drive takes you to the modern and vibrant city of Montpellier with its new tram system making it easy to see this fascinating city with its old town of narrow streets. 30 minutes away and you are in the Roman town of Nimes with its Roman Arena and the Maison Carree - a fascinating place to visit.
Languedoc-Roussillon is a region of stunning diversity, with areas of unspoilt natural beauty, vibrant towns and cities, and superb historic monuments. Add to this the incomparable Mediterranean light and the beautiful blue of the sea, and you are in a region of pure delight. The property is in the Gard department which is part of the Cévennes National Park. There is the famous Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. Also worth visiting are Arles that has a Roman Amphitheatre and is the gateway to the Camargue, and Uzes is famous in the area for its Saturday market.
The villa is within easy reach of the seaside resorts of La Grand Motte, Le Boucanet, Carnon, Palavas and the busy fishing port of Le Grau-du-Roi with a fine sandy beach at L´Espiguette and sand dunes at Le Grande Travers. There are two 18 hole golf courses within 15 minutes of the property. Boat hire is locally available to enjoy the marina, the local canals, and the Med which is just a 4 km canal trip away.
Eurostar/SNCF options are frequent to Nimes station, and there is even a connection at Nimes for Aigues Mortes station - a 15 minute walk from the property.

Very special house in a quiet, small harbour area, walking distance to town. The house is in a perfect condition, very clean and well looked after, the kitchen is very well equipped. Swimming pool is shared with others, don´t forget to bring your bathing towels. Michelle was so kind to help us out. Communication with Michelle was very friendly, quick and easy. We would have appreciated day beds or deck chairs to relax on the patio (Michelle is still looking for some, so next time we will be able to appreciate them). There is a lot to do in the area and we really loved it!

We had a great family holiday in this bright and spacious villa. With nice views onto the marina and a great shared swimming pool, it is in a gated complex, v quiet and safe which makes it perfect for the kids. The old part of Aigues Mortes is a pleasant 20 min walk along the canal and the there is easy access to the main roads for exploring the rest of the Carmargue.

It lived up to the photos. The waterside setting is quite and peaceful with Kingfishers and other birdlife. There are some interesting drives with view points nearby but you need a good map to find them. The whole booking process and arrangements for accessing the property were good and went smoothly. We have a lot of self catering holidays and this is probably the nicest one we have stayed in. Lounge area is bright and airy with plenty of comfy seating, All rooms were very clean and overall well maintained. The outside area is great for al fresco dining. Aigues Mortes is within a 20 minute walk along the canal and there are good restaurants. There is Lidl store in walking distance and other supermarkets further afield and is well placed for exploring the Camargue. We would certainly go back.
